GREEN HILLS DOCUMENTARY

SUPERVISING SOUND EDITOR AND DIALOGUE/SYNC EDITOR
MixingGreenHills.HEIC

INTRODUCTION

Green Hills is a 50 minute documentary feature-film of sister and brother Jess and Oscar Neill returning to their old family home in Jamaica.

My primary roles were Supervising Sound Editor, and Dialogue Editor. The audio team was comprised of 5 other members, including ambience/foley editors, sound designer, composers, and dubbing mixer.

ROLES OVERVIEW

As SSE, I was responsible for ensuring that the audio quality and aesthetic, were in line with the Directors Vision and industry standard practice. This was performed by assessing progress from each team member, and communicating regularly with the Director. I also worked closely with the Dubbing Mixer, to build the final session, enhance the mix, and export the deliverables.

As Dialogue Editor, my main responsibility was to improve continuity within the sync dialogue. Main tasks included amending microphone clipping, wind distortion, noise reduction, levelling, and cohesion of micro- edits. I also led a Dialogue Voice-Over Recording Session with the main subject of the film.

DELIVERABLES

The project was edited in ProTools, from an original OMF file. Each team member worked on their content (ie. Foley, Sound design, Music) in separate ProTools Sessions, which for the final 5.1 and Stereo Mix were combined into a master session. The mix was performed by myself and the Dubbing-Mixer in a 5.1 Audio-Post Production Studio, using an Avid S6 Desk.

RELEASE

The film is scheduled for theatre and festival release in 2022.
